Off we go to the South! Away from all worries and straight into the fun… until the engine starts sputtering. Just moments ago speeding at hellish pace towards greener pastures – and now on the way into the green hell! Crashed in the middle of nowhere! Surrounded by leaves, worms… and locals.
As spoiled Western plants, used to experiencing foreign lands via contactless package holidays, our non-heroes soon realize that in foreign lands, they are the foreigners. Eyed with suspicion, sized up strangely, unpleasantly harassed.
In the struggle with raw nature – especially the nature of each other – one by one, the masks of civilization fall (not the clothes, the show is family-friendly). But what emerges isn’t all that pretty either.
So it’s no wonder that soon everyone is moaning and pleading: “We’re not celebrities, get us out of here anyway!” But given the current state of the world, it’s like dealing with the complaints department: “Take a number and get in line!”
Join a clueless TV producer along with his ex-wife and current fling, a surfer without a board, and a desk-trained scientist as they have their first encounter with the people of the Great Umba, whose customs might be closer to ours than they first appear.
The only certainty left is the show's motto: Only more jokes will get us through! Emphasis as desired.
